Bl. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish

The fish is an ancient Christian symbol. The Greek word for fish is icthus. The early Christian saw in the letters of this word the first letters of the phrase, "Jesus Christ Son of God, Savior," and so the symbol of the fish became a symbol which early Christians could identify Christ and themselves without danger from pagan authorities.
