Ciborium

Celebrating 100 years

There are several of these vessels in use in our church. The word is from the Latin, cibus, "food." A ciborium (plural, ciboria) is the vessel used to contain the hosts presented at Mass and consecrated for Holy Communion. Those Hosts which remain after Communion is distributed are placed in ciboria and reserved in the tabernacle.
