Book Of The Gospels
From earliest times and continuing throughout the Church's history, special attention has always been given to the Scripture, especially the Gospels. To highlight the importance of the Word of God, the Book of the Gospels has often been bound in a highly decorated cover to distinguish it from all other books and to focus the attention of the faithful upon it as it was brought into the church in procession by the Deacon and placed on the altar at the beginning of Mass.
